The heyday of the music industry for major labels and bands began in the 1960s when groups like The Beatles and artists like Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Elvis Presley sold out stadiums and brought in big TV audiences. As seen with Elvis, the music of the popular artist also got used in film sound tracks because music in youth culture helps sell movie tickets.

By the 1980s electro music was created in New York and Chicago and we saw the rise of the superstar DJ who was also a producer or re-mixer who was able to sell out night clubs. Artists like Roni Size, The Chemical Brothers and Fat Boy Slim or Hip Hop producers like DJ Premier replaced the band. Music was now created on a computer. Today, in some cases DJs are selling out gigs and bringing in audiences bigger than bands as events like Homelands, Creamfields and Gatecrasher show.
American DJs like Armand Van Halden, Todd Terry and Roger Sanchez are bigger in Europe than in their home country America. DJs earning large sums for remixing and now having music in film sound tracks is because in clubs throughout the world cutting edge DJs are making music that works in the club as a remix for pop acts and in films.

If you want to launch your career as a Drum and Bass Producer DJ, Depth Charge will be the place to start as we use our global network to get your name to the DJs in the clubs that play the tunes.

The History Making DJs
